For a quad this is the Copter wiki I keep open. Firmware, first flight and tuning are linked from ArduPilot Copter. I flash from there, not from a zip on a forum.

Pixhawk first run: I followed Pixhawk Overview for the board, then Mission Planner for the firmware and calibration. Do the accel and compass on the bench, not in the grass.

Cube Orange plus ArduPilot: I wanted the current firmware, not a random hex. autopilot boards is the page I opened, then Mission Planner to flash it. Same flow for Orange+ and Black.
